Apostille on Romanian Documents or Translations
What is an Apostille?
An Apostille is a particular certification or legalization of a document; it authenticates the translation or other document and also any signatures on the document. The Apostille certification may be stamped directly onto the document or attached to it, and confirms the conditions under which the document has been signed and the identity of both the signatory and the registered authority who has issued the document certification. The Apostille also confirms the country of origin of the document; Romanian documents prepared in Ireland can be apostilled at the Ministry of Foreigh Affairs in Dublin.
This certification will ensure the document and signatures will be recognised as official, valid and authentic in all countries signed up to the Hague Convention of 1961.
Why would I need an Apostille?
This highest level of certification may be demanded by any country under the Hague Convention for a range of legal and other documents. A document prepared in Ireland for use in Romania must be Apostilled in the Romanian embassy in Dublin before it will be considered valid in other countries.
Any notarized translation may be issued with an Apostille certification to verify its authenticity. Alternatively, a document may be translated after the original has been issued with an Apostille certification.
